Whimsical Wildflower Wedding at The Norland Historic Estate in Lethbridge
Kaela and Koen's wedding at The Norland Historic Estate in Lethbridge was decorated with colourful wildflower-like florals. Kaela envisioned a happy and bright, spring-like theme for their November wedding, and thus came the vision for "Spring in November" as their wedding concept.
Janie has known Kaela's mom and aunt for years, so it was a true honour when she was asked by Kaela to be her wedding florist. Janie immediately loved the joyful colours she chose. The spring-like wildflower theme was a wonderful reminder that you can do anything you envision for your wedding day, and that your flowers and colours don't have to match the season your getting married in.
"I was so stunned by the florals that Janie created for our wedding — they truly brought so much joy and spring-like brightness. From the beautiful floral arrangement in the centre of the cross that we had during our ceremony, to the elegant installation on the photo wall, to the most perfect bouquet ever, Janie's florals brought so much joy to our wedding. Her creativity brought so much beauty to life, and I was so blessed to have her as our florist." - Kaela, bride
Kaela and Koen met in Grade 7 when she was volunteering with kindergarteners at the church that both their families went to. Little did she know that Koen has had a crush on her ever since they first met. Seven years later, they reconnected at a summer camp that they were both working at. The two became good friends over that summer, with Kaela realizing in the fall of 2024 that she had really liked Koen, and that he reciprocated those feelings too.
That October under the beautiful Northern Lights, Koen asked Kaela out on their first date. It was truly magical with a romantic dinner, followed by ice cream and games. Since then, their relationship has been filled with meaningful conversations, walks in nature, adventures, and so much joy.
It was April 12th, 2025, when things came full circle. Kaela and Koen revisited the place where they had dinner on their first date, followed by a walk to a park where they danced under the rain. As they were dancing, Koen got down on one knee and asked, "Will you marry me?". It was the happiest "yes" of Kaela's life.
As Kaela and Koen's wedding guest, Janie had the privilege to witness their vows. "Their ceremony was one of the most beautiful and moving ones I've ever attended" - Janie. Their love story is so special, and Janie is incredibly happy that her flowers could contribute to the beauty and happiness of their special day. One of her favourite details was the couple's receiving line, where they poured iced coffee for their guests and spent a few minutes speaking with each and every person.
