Passion Draped in Crimson Wedding at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel

Bride and groom kiss among crimson red florals at Fairmont Banff Springs outdoor terrace ceremony

Breeze Photography

On the second day of spring (which is still considered winter here in Alberta) in the Rocky Mountains, Alex and Ian said their I do's at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. Their ceremony was held at the outdoor terrace after a brief blizzard swept through, leaving a gorgeous layer of snow that complemented the floral columns framing the background. Their reception was held in Mount Stephen Hall, draped in crimson red florals that complemented the victorian gothic theme of their wedding.

Alex and Ian met online soon after moving to Florida to work for Walt Disney World. He pined after her for about 5 years when she finally agreed to go on a date. From then on, they knew they were meant to be, even after Ian asked Alex to go on an international trip with him on their first date! Weeks later in Saint Augustine, the couples said their I love you's under a love tree — two species of trees that grow and intertwine together. Their romance continued throughout the next few years when Ian proposed to Alex, leading to their beautiful wedding in Banff!

Our favourite floral design (besides the ceremony of course) was their sweetheart table draped with luscious, cascading florals. It was such a beautiful and impactful design that wowed so many guests!

We intentfully chose their flowers with unique shapes and textures like anthuriums, kangaroo paws, and hanging amaranthus, so that they stood out from the monochromatic red/burgundy colour palette. Other florals that we designed with included Red Anemone Mistral Red, Red Ranunculus, Red Naomi roses from BC grower Eurosa Farms (the best smelling roses!), Tess Garden roses from Alexandra Farms in Colombia, and many more.

"Janie just got us! She knew we wanted different and special. From our bridesmaids bouquets being created by flowers from my bridal bouquet, to my bouquet resembling a heart, to the beautiful corsage made for my mother, she nailed every aspect." ~ Alex, Bride.

Our team absolutely LOVED working with Alex and Ian. They were incredibly kind and loved all of our floral ideas and suggestions, trusting us to design big and bold for their wedding. The flowers played a key role in the design of Alex and Ian's wedding and we really enjoyed working with Melissa Alison Events to bring their vision to life at the luxurious Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel.

Congratulations to Alex and Ian!

Surprise Murder Mystery Rehearsal Dinner

Who knew that rehearsal dinners could also double as a thriling mystery? Before their special day, Alex surprised all of her guests, and her husband-to-be with a murder mystery when she sipped her wine, coughed, and dropped “dead” from poisoning. This year-long planned surprise was tied to the infamous ghost bride of the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, fitting perfectly with the red moody florals our team designed to set the mystery scene.

Read all about the dinner and how it was executed in their feature article by People Magazine here.

Alex and Ian's wedding was also featured as the front cover of the Rocky Mountain Bride Canada Fall 2025 magazine! Read more about their crimson red wedding by getting your copy here.
